Maryville, Alcoa and Knoxville TN
Receiving a veneer from the Knoxville cosmetic dental professionals at Cedar Street Family Dentistry can improve the way your teeth look, and help you feel confident about your smile.
Made of high-quality dental porcelain, your cosmetic dentist, Dr. Ben Sentell of Cedar Street Family Dentistry, can use veneers to resolve any of these cosmetic dental issues:
- Cracked, chipped or slightly fractured teeth
- Crooked or uneven teeth
- Concealing a gap between teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Discolored teeth that do not respond well to whitening treatments
Cedar Street Family Dentistry can even install a porcelain veneer in combination with other cosmetic dental treatments to help a patient achieve their desired aesthetic goals. Each smile makeover is designed to meet the specific smile goals of each patient. A thorough consultation with us at Cedar Street Family Dentistry will help you decide which treatments are right for you.
How many veneers will I need?
The number of veneers that you need will depend on the issue being treated. For example, it may take just one or two veneers to improve the appearance of a tooth that is chipped or cracked or to cover a gap between teeth. On the other hand, it may require a full set of veneers to cover all the visible surfaces of your teeth if you are using veneers to correct the appearance of teeth that are crooked, short or discolored.
What to expect from a veneer procedure
All of the veneers offered at Cedar Street Family Dentistry are made of beautiful dental porcelain, a high-quality material that reflects light in the same way your natural tooth enamel does. Any veneer installation will require removing a small portion of the front of the tooth or teeth that are being treated. We also customize any veneer for each patient, so that the veneer matches the shape and color of your other teeth, and maintains the proper alignment of your bite.
Receiving a porcelain veneer will involve two office visits. At the first visit, you will receive a local anesthetic, after which cosmetic dentist, Dr. Sentell, will remove a small portion of the tooth structure to make room for the veneer. This also helps smooth the tooth, making sure that your new veneers will bond flush to each tooth. Then, impressions will be taken of your mouth. These impressions are taken digitally—without the mess and discomfort of using gooey impression material—and then are used as a model to construct your new veneers. This initial visit concludes with receiving a temporary restoration. At the next visit, usually a couple of weeks later, your permanent veneers will be installed.
Benefits of Veneers
- Porcelain veneers are durable. Once installed, porcelain veneers will not be stained by the consumption of certain, potentially discoloring substances like wine, tea, coffee, and tobacco. Plus, they last longer than dental bonding.
- Installing a porcelain veneer is less invasive since it requires removing less of the tooth structure than say a dental crown.
- Veneers are also a quick fix to crooked teeth. Covering all of your teeth with veneers means that you can have straight teeth in as little as two weeks.
- Results are natural and gorgeous!
