Being afraid of going to the dentist isn’t uncommon. It has been estimated that nearly 75 percent of adults experience dental anxiety in some form or fashion. What many people don’t want to say is that the anxiety they experience has nothing to do with the dentist or dental work… but is a fear of the bill that comes later. Financial concerns can prevent you from making regular dentist visits, even if you have dental insurance. Dr. Ben Sentell of Cedar Street Family Dentistry sees it happen all the time. Many people without dental insurance neglect basic care because they are scared they can’t afford regular treatment. Even patients with dental insurance don’t want to schedule an appointment out of fear of being left with a bill that their insurance didn’t cover. Have you ever let financial concerns stop them from having an important dental procedure? Cedar Street Family Dentistry wants to explain why insurance should never stop you from taking care of your teeth.
Insurance is a problem for many people
Remember that the first goal of insurance companies is, like any business, to make a profit. That means that dental plans oftentimes only cover the bare minimum: check-ups, a yearly cleaning, and basic restorative procedures like fillings, crowns, and dental bridges. The truly troublesome part of this is that insurance plans may not cover other beneficial treatments like small cosmetic procedures (that could also prevent serious issues later) go by the wayside. Because of these limits, you can get stuck with an expensive bill later trying to fix something your insurance should have covered in the first place. Our staff will gladly submit a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance company so that you will know what your benefits will be.
Cedar Street Family Dentistry says no more. We accept most dental insurance programs and will assist you with filing. This includes but is not limited to PPO’s and indemnity (traditional) plans. We are not part of any managed care network such as a DMO or HMO. Our office staff will prepare all the necessary forms to help you file claims for your dental benefits. We can also offer a financing option through CareCredit, a third-party company that offers a line of credit just like a credit card. Through CareCredit, you can pay for medical expenses when you are not able to afford them out of your own pocket, and then make small monthly payments, usually interest-free. Our office also accepts cash, check, and major credit cards, including Visa, Discover, and MasterCard.
